The figures
The choice of the human body as a big source of inspiration of her art is due to the familiarity of it. Bazuine takes time to build up a figure from scratch. The images are created by her hands, but then lead their own lives. Each image has a quirky character, like the mysterious Sophia or the perky Jenny.
Technique
Her choice of material is not a coincidence, the grandfather of the artist was a painter and her father was known as a Dutch expert of glazing. As a little girl Bazuine spent a lot of time in the pottery factory with her father. Here she was first introduced to the clay material and even began to create small things at an early age. That early work already was intriguing!
